Description
Frederick Yates made his theatrical debut in 1817. [1] He began his London career at Covet Gardens and in 1825, he purchased the Adelphi theatre with Daniel Terry. During their joint management of the theatre, numerous plays by Edward Fitzball were produced, including his 1828 melodrama Red Rover. [2] Yates played the role of Red Rover in both the original 1828 produciton and the 1831 revival. Yates continued to manage the Adelphi until his retirement in 1842. [3]
