Wat Tyler is the title character of a drama writhen by Robert Southey. Originally this play was written in the 18th century, and subsequent editions were published throughout the early 19th century. [3] Wat Tyler was a historical figure who lead the peasants revolt in England in 1380, which is a possible reason why the play became so popular. [4]
